La Janais - Location Map

We have ample safe off road parking for 8 or more cars and under cover parking for motorcycles / cycles in our barn.

Where is La Janais?

La Janais is located in the Loire – Atlantique region of France which is numerically known as Department 44 and is located on the south western Atlantic edge of France.

We are located in a no through lane...and surrounded by miles and miles of countryside...on a really busy day we may see the postman!...so if you are looking for somewhere rural, quiet, tranquil, safe for children to play yet still close enough to a bit of ‘bustle’ so you do not get ‘SLWS’...(stressful life withdrawal symptoms)...we could be just what you are looking for.

If you look at a map of France, you will find the city of Nantes approximately a third of the way down the Atlantic coastline. Now if you look slightly north east of Nantes and follow the A11 motorway along you come to a town called Ancenis which is located right on the banks of the Loire river...nearly there!....now go directly north out of Ancenis firstly taking the D923 but switching onto the D878 after approximately 15Kms.
You then come to a small town called St. Mars-la-Jaille...continue straight through St Mars still on the D878 for approximately 5 Kms and on your right you will see a turning to the small village of Le Pin, this is the D29.
From the centre of Le Pin you need to take the D133 for 2Kms...you will pass a large lake on your right and within 200 metres you will come to a small lane on your left opposite a farm called Le Champ Fleury, take this lane and after 600 metres you will find a warm welcome awaiting you at La Janais!

Please see the maps which will also help you to find us...however if you do get lost just call us and we can help talk you in or it has been known for one of us to go out and find guests and guide them in! If you are using your English mobile in France make sure you have any continental call bars lifted before you go on holiday or your phone will not make any outgoing calls. Also please note that a lot of public phones in France now are phone card only and not coins...phone cards can be purchased in most supermarkets and some cafes; bars and newsagents also sell them.

Many of our guests are using GPS (Gone Past Signpost?) to navigate around the continent these days and so especially for you our GPS co-ordinates are included above. (Please see www.gps4touring.com who kindly supplied our co-ordinates.)

Especially important if you have booked an evening meal and you are not going to make it ‘till gone 7-30pm, which is the normal evening meal time here, please call us so Pat can delay if possible your meal to ensure that it is perfect for when you do arrive, many thanks for your help and understanding with this...we grow all our own veg and buy all our other produce fresh locally so we want you to enjoy a beautiful meal when you arrive not a dried up, cold, burnt or microwave re-warm!!!!

Planes and boats and trains!

Lets start with the boats...the normal ports of entry for us are St Malo, Le Havre, Caen, Roscoff, Cherbourg and we even have people come in from as far afield as Calais.

The closest port to us is St Malo...without going ballistic I can comfortably drive to St Malo in an hour and three quarters in our little Renault Kangoo diesel...I must admit I do do it a little quicker if I use my motorbike officer!

Next we have Cherbourg...we used to allow 4 hours to get down to here in our camper van.

From Caen you will be talking about 3 hours.

And from Le Havre allow about 3 ½ hours.

It is about the same 3 to 3 ½ hours from Roscoff.

And from Calais we are reliably informed by several guests you should allow 6 hours...but at least the fuel is cheaper this side of the water and there are very few, if any traffic jams!

The nearest main line train station to us is at Angers, this is approximately 50 Kms away from us...there are hire cars available near to the station..or if you are a real glutton for punishment you can gradually work your way to us by bus! The rail link from Paris to Angers is approx an hour and a half.

And planes?.....you can currently catch a Ryan Air flight from Luton into Dinan airport..this is exactly the same distance from us as St Malo so you will need to hire a car to finish your journey or you can take a major carrier flight into Nantes airport. Nantes is approximately 80 Kms from us and again major car hire company’s are located at the airport.
